AIRPORT – Phan Thiet
Phan Thiet Airport is a visionary commercial infrastructure project that reimagines what a regional airport can be. Designed by Lotuz Studio, this terminal building serves not just as a transportation facility but as an architectural ambassador for the Binh Thuan province and its world-famous resort coast.
The terminal design draws from the region’s distinctive landscape — the sweeping sand dunes, the rhythm of ocean waves, and the graceful forms of traditional fishing vessels. These references are abstracted into a contemporary architectural language featuring a dramatic flowing roof structure that provides shade and captures prevailing breezes, reducing cooling loads while creating a signature silhouette visible from the approach road.
Passenger experience is prioritized throughout the design, with clear circulation paths, abundant natural light, and views to landscaped gardens that maintain a sense of calm even during peak travel periods. The commercial zone showcases local products — Phan Thiet fish sauce, dragon fruit, and artisanal crafts — introducing travelers to the region’s culture from the moment they arrive.
The building is designed for phased expansion, with a structural system and planning grid that allow capacity to grow without disrupting operations. Sustainable features include rainwater harvesting, solar power generation, and a landscape design that uses drought-resistant native plants, ensuring the airport operates efficiently in Binh Thuan’s semi-arid climate.
