VILLA AND DOCK – FINLAND
Villa and Dock is a refined waterfront residential project in Finland that embraces the Nordic tradition of lake living. Lotuz Studio’s design creates a seamless connection between domestic architecture and the Finnish lakeside landscape, where the rhythm of seasons defines the way of life.
The villa is designed as a linear pavilion that stretches along the waterfront, with full-height glazing on the lake side providing panoramic views from every living space. The timber-clad exterior references traditional Finnish lake houses, while the interior spatial planning reflects contemporary Scandinavian residential design — open, luminous, and functionally refined.
A private dock extends from the villa into the lake, serving as both a functional boat mooring and an outdoor living room — complete with a sauna cabin, a cold-water plunge platform, and a covered terrace for summer evenings that stretch past midnight. The dock design is integral to the architectural concept, not an afterthought.
Construction uses sustainably harvested Finnish timber, with prefabricated CLT panels ensuring precision assembly with minimal site disturbance. The villa’s energy systems — ground-source heat pump, triple-glazed windows, and a tight thermal envelope — ensure comfort through Finland’s extreme seasonal temperature range while maintaining near-zero energy consumption.
