VILLA DALAT – VIET NAM
Villa Dalat is a residential project set in Vietnam’s beloved highland city, where cool mountain air, pine forests, and French colonial charm create one of Southeast Asia’s most distinctive living environments. Lotuz Studio designed this villa to embrace Dalat’s unique character — a place where European architectural influences blend naturally with Vietnamese sensibility.
The villa’s design draws from Dalat’s architectural heritage — pitched roofs, enclosed terraces, and stone chimneys recall the city’s French colonial villas, while the interior spatial planning and material palette are thoroughly contemporary. A central living hall features a double-height ceiling with a mezzanine library overlooking the main fireplace — a space designed for the cool highland evenings that make Dalat unique among Vietnamese cities.
Gardens play an essential role in the design, with the villa surrounded by landscaped grounds featuring flowering gardens, vegetable plots, and a small orchard of temperate fruit trees that thrive in Dalat’s cool climate. A covered veranda wraps around the southern facade, providing a sheltered outdoor living space with views across the highland landscape.
Materials reflect the highlands: locally quarried stone walls, pine timber structure and cladding, and terracotta floor tiles fired in neighboring kilns. The villa is designed for year-round comfort without mechanical cooling — Dalat’s elevation provides natural air conditioning, and the building’s orientation and ventilation design maximize this climatic advantage.
