IC CABIN – SPAIN
IC Cabin is a minimal yet luxurious retreat design in Spain that reimagines the cabin typology for the Mediterranean context. Lotuz Studio’s design creates a compact, self-contained dwelling that delivers maximum spatial experience within a modest building footprint — a design exercise in doing more with less.
The cabin’s form is a simple rectangular volume clad in charred timber, sitting lightly on a stone plinth that anchors it to the Spanish hillside. One end of the box is entirely glazed, creating a window-wall that frames the Mediterranean landscape like a living painting. The interior is a single open space with a sleeping loft above a compact bathroom and kitchen core — a spatial arrangement that feels generous despite its efficiency.
Every element is designed with care: the kitchen features handmade ceramic tiles and a solid walnut counter, the bathroom is finished in natural stone with a rainfall shower, and the sleeping loft is positioned to capture the first light of sunrise over the mountains. Built-in furniture — window seats, storage platforms, fold-out surfaces — ensures functionality without clutter.
The cabin is designed for off-grid self-sufficiency with solar panels, rainwater collection, and a composting toilet, allowing it to be placed in remote locations without utility connections. IC Cabin demonstrates Lotuz Studio’s ability to apply the same design rigor and material excellence to the smallest building types as to large-scale developments.
