VILLA AND DOCK – FINLAND

Villa and Dock is a lakeside residential project in Finland that embodies the Nordic way of life. Lotuz Studio's design creates a seamless connection between the house and the Finnish lakeside landscape, where daily life follows the rhythm of the seasons.

The villa is conceived as a long house stretching along the lakeshore, with floor-to-ceiling glazing on the lake side that opens panoramic views from every living space. The timber-clad exterior recalls traditional Finnish lakeside houses, while the interior layout reflects modern Scandinavian residential design — airy, light-filled and functionally refined.

A private dock extends from the villa out over the lake, serving both as a boat mooring and as an outdoor living room — complete with a sauna, a hot tub and a sheltered lounge for long summer evenings that stretch late into the night. The dock is an integral part of the architectural concept, not an afterthought added later.

The build uses sustainably harvested Finnish timber, with prefabricated CLT panels ensuring precise assembly and keeping on-site construction time to a minimum. The villa's energy systems — ground-source heating, triple glazing and an airtight insulated envelope — deliver lasting comfort through Finland's harsh temperature swings while keeping energy consumption close to zero.
