VILLA GALÁPAGOS
Villa Galápagos is an extraordinary residential project inspired by the legendary islands where Charles Darwin developed his theory of evolution. Lotuz Studio’s design creates a home that exists in dialogue with nature — a living space that celebrates biodiversity, ecological sensitivity, and the wonder of the natural world.
The architecture is conceived as a series of pavilions connected by covered walkways and garden courtyards, allowing the landscape to flow through and around the building. This fragmented plan minimizes the building’s visual impact while maximizing the variety of garden views and microclimates experienced within the home. Each pavilion houses a different function — sleeping, living, cooking, bathing — creating a journey of discovery through the domestic landscape.
Materials are selected for their organic character and low environmental impact: volcanic stone foundations, sustainably harvested timber frames, and living green roofs that integrate the building into its garden setting. Interior spaces are characterized by simplicity and natural beauty — raw timber ceilings, stone floors, and frameless glass walls that offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding vegetation.
The landscape design is the project’s true masterpiece — a carefully curated collection of endemic plants, water features, and habitat elements that attract birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects, transforming the villa’s grounds into a miniature nature reserve. Villa Galápagos is architecture as conservation — a home that gives back more to nature than it takes.
